TV Lumière - Per amor dell'oceano (10tx CD, 55'17'' - Seahorse rec/Goodfellas 'o8) - 01.10.2008 10:10 AM by Komakino and Marquee-Moon - review

Calmed down the noise burning of their debut [read past komareview], four piece Tv Lumière, leaden by Persichini brothers, soars upon the wings of an elegant slowcore, with a renewed attention for acoustic instruments, - then their obscure figures turnt into severe ballads tasting vintage; stark as their themes (postwar and arounds, but nothing to do with wartime-wannabes and other foolish), anyway emotionally involved with that, - and these new songs form like a unity, almost granitic. That doesn't mean it's inaccessible, no, anyway it needs time to get through. Besides cited and evident influences (Nick Cave, Slint, Sonic Youth, Lydia Lunch, Dirty Three, Low) my mind comes again to Michael Gira as their real ascendancy, - surely referring to the more decadent lines He drawn with Angels of Light than with Swans' desperate fierceness (with whom TVL were closer in their earlier songwriting), - and, inside the borders of our country, with Massimo Volume - at least because of that similar instrumental chasteness, somehow illuminated, even when such so spartan. Not much else to say, except done i still really love Federico's beautiful voice, - maybe just in reason of what many other people don't: those tones of his, generally slow and even slower, baritone, it is like it was desperate and careless at the same time. As regards me, this is among best things of latest years in italy. Next 4th October they'll be the supporting band for Faust gig in Rome.

"The debut album, produced by Amaury Cambuzat (Ulan Bator). TV Lumière - TV Lumière (tele_noise art/Venus, 2005)

TV Lumière - s/t (CD-R self-produced) - www.walnutlocust.fr.st/

Produced by Ulan Bator founding member, Amaury Cambuzat, TV lumière is not just an extension of their sound. The record moves like a true Post-rock composition, melodic and melancholic, hopeful and despaired. The songs progressing slowly, towards their inevitable end. We can hear instants of Mogwai, of Ulan Bator and the explosive corrosion of the Swans' Children of God. Staring at the flickering images of emptiness on TV, remember that everything is lost, feel good now.

TV Lumière - s/t (11tx  - cd, 58’51’’ self-prod. ’05)

Somewhat  chaotic, Italian TV Lumière play first track, high volumes on distorsions, two chords, a quiet stop, and then a new load to form an impact wave. Sort of atmosphere of whispers, contemplate/poetic and suffering, all building a gloomy/black mood over tracks, like spartan cd artwork. A production cared by Amaury Cambuzat (Ulan Bator, Enfants Rouges, playing several instruments too on some titles), this album blends chorus effected 80’s new wave guitar riffs to half postpunk saturation (instrumental load of D’improvviso). On Ritratti egiochi d’infanzia kids create a fairly good lyric tension idea, like with french lullaby of I Gatti (L’amour, mon amour qui ne vit plus dans moi, sings Federico Persichini, - vocals memories of Italian Diaframma), divided in two suites, with satin female background vocals of bass player Irene Antonelli.
